
The Bachelor of Education (History and Geography) program is designed to prepare competent and professionally trained teachers with strong academic foundations in History and Geography, supported by sound pedagogical knowledge. The program aims to develop educators who can effectively teach at secondary school and related educational levels while promoting critical thinking, civic awareness, and environmental understanding.
Through an integrated curriculum combining subject knowledge, educational theory, and teaching practice, graduates are equipped with the skills required to interpret historical events, analyze geographical patterns, and apply effective teaching methodologies in diverse learning environments.
The Bachelor of Education (History and Geography) is a four-year undergraduate degree program, with an optional fifth-year Honours degree awarded by merit. The program is structured progressively, beginning with foundational studies in physical and human geography, African and world history, psychology, and education, and advancing to specialized courses, research methods, and professional teaching practice.
Students study physical, human, economic, and regional geography, alongside African, South Sudanese, and world history, supported by core education courses such as philosophy of education, educational psychology, curriculum development, educational technology, assessment and evaluation, and educational administration.
A central component of the program is the Teaching Practice, which provides supervised classroom experience and allows students to apply theory to real teaching contexts. Graduates are well prepared for teaching careers, educational administration, curriculum development, and further academic study.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (History and Geography) program, graduates will be able to:
