Program Description

The Bachelor of Education (English and Geography) program is designed to prepare competent, reflective, and professionally trained teachers capable of teaching English Language and Geography at secondary school and related educational levels. The program integrates disciplinary knowledge, pedagogical skills, and educational foundations to ensure graduates possess both subject mastery and effective teaching competence.

The curriculum combines theoretical and practical components, including linguistics, literature, physical and human geography, educational psychology, curriculum development, assessment, and supervised teaching practice. Graduates of the program are equipped to contribute meaningfully to education, research, curriculum development, and national development.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Education (English and Geography) is a four-year undergraduate degree program, with an optional fifth-year Honours pathway awarded by merit. The program is structured progressively from foundational studies in the first year to advanced specialization, research, and professional practice in later years.

Students study English Language and Literature alongside Physical, Human, and Regional Geography, supported by core courses in education such as psychology, philosophy of education, teaching methods, curriculum development, educational technology, measurement and evaluation, and educational research.

A major feature of the program is the Teaching Practice, which provides students with real classroom experience under supervision. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, communication skills, research competence, and ethical professionalism, preparing graduates for teaching careers and further academic advancement.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (English and Geography) program, graduates will be able to:
