
The Bachelor of Education (English and History) program is designed to prepare qualified and professional teachers with strong academic foundations in English Language, Literature, and History, combined with sound pedagogical training. The program aims to develop educators who are knowledgeable, ethical, and capable of delivering effective instruction at secondary school and related educational levels.
Through a balanced integration of subject content, educational theory, and practical teaching experience, the program equips students with the skills necessary to teach English and History effectively, conduct basic educational research, and contribute meaningfully to national education and societal development.
The Bachelor of Education (English and History) is a four-year undergraduate degree program, with an optional fifth-year Honours degree awarded by merit. The program is structured progressively, beginning with foundational courses in English language studies, history, psychology, and education, and advancing toward specialized subject content, teaching methodologies, research, and professional practice.
Students study core areas of English language, linguistics, and literature, alongside African, South Sudanese, and world history. These are supported by essential education courses such as educational psychology, philosophy of education, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, educational technology, and educational administration.
A key component of the program is Teaching Practice, which provides supervised classroom experience and allows students to apply theory to real teaching situations. Graduates are prepared for careers in teaching, curriculum development, educational administration, and further academic studies.
